Martha’s Vineyard Transit Authority, aka VTA. Our terrific local bus service travels to all six towns on Martha’s vineyard, operates from early in the morning to late at night and is very affordable. $1.25 for each town, $8.00 for an unlimited all-day pass, $18.00 for a three-day pass, $30.00 for a seven-day pass. We vineyarders regularly use the bus.
We strongly recommend Anderson’s Bike Rental, right here in Oak Bluffs, for all your bicycling needs. Bill Anderson and his family have been renting bicycles since before there were fossil fuels, and a nicer fellow you will not find on Martha’s Vineyard. Bill keeps modern, up-to-date equipment on hand, with all types of bikes available.
Waiting taxis are at the Steamship terminals and airport. There’s a permanent taxi stand in Oak Bluffs (at the foot of Circuit Ave) and Edgartown (next to the Town Wharf). Arrange a firm fare before you get into the cab! Cab companies on the island include:
Cottage City Cab Company
Lighthouse Taxi Martha’s Vineyard
Martha’s Vineyard Taxi Co.
Ubers are available depending on the time of year. Check your app for options.
Rental cars are available from AA Island Rentals, Budget Rentals, and Sun ‘N’ Fun. We think jeeps are the best way to explore the island! Book far in advance for the best price and options.
